Dutch kickboxing style

Muay Thai

The Dutch approach: high-volume combinations and low kicks.

What coaches agree on

  • Fight from a tight, high guard with your hands up against your head and your elbows down, using it to absorb punches and walk your opponent down rather than relying on head movement to evade.
  • Apply constant forward pressure - move forward and control the center of the ring rather than waiting for your opponent to close the distance.

  • Throw strikes in long combinations that move through multiple levels and weapons - hands, knees, and kicks - rather than as single isolated shots, to overwhelm the opponents guard.

Common mistakes

  • Throwing a kick on its own, without hand strikes to occupy the opponents guard first, lets them see it coming and check or counter it.
