Linking turns

Snowboarding / Popular

Join heelside and toeside into smooth linked turns.

What coaches agree on

  • Let your board run straight down the fall line for a second between turns before easing onto the new edge.
  • Finish every turn by riding across the slope, using a little edge pressure to control your speed, so your momentum carries into the next turn.

  • Commit to the new turn by looking and pointing where you want to go, and let your body follow.

Common mistakes

  • Letting your shoulders twist or muscling the board around, instead of leading smoothly with your front foot, throws your weight onto your back leg and stalls the transition.
