Fat-loss nutrition

Use calorie targets, protein, adherence, and training support for sustainable fat loss.

What coaches agree on

  • Fat loss ultimately comes from sustaining a calorie deficit - the specific diet style, food type, or meal timing you choose mainly affects how easy that deficit is to stick to, not whether it works.
  • Eat roughly 0.7 to 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight (about 1.6 to 2.2 g/kg) while dieting - it preserves your muscle and keeps hunger in check during a deficit.

  • Aim for a moderate rate of loss, around 0.5 to 1% of bodyweight per week, rather than crash dieting - losing faster tends to cost more muscle and is harder to sustain.
