Teep

Muay Thai

The push kick: range control, off-balancing and setting up.

What coaches agree on

  • Chamber your knee up high before extending your leg, then drive the kick through with a forward hip thrust.
  • Swing your same-side arm down as you kick — it helps power the hip drive and keeps you balanced as your weight shifts onto your back leg.
  • Strike with the ball of your foot, toes pulled back, rather than the flat sole or the toes themselves.

Common mistakes

  • Throwing the teep from too close without adjusting your stance first, leaving you cramped with no room to fully extend the kick.
