The Teaser

Pilates / Popular

Build the advanced V-sit balance exercise with control.

What coaches agree on

  • Teaser calls on both powerhouse strength and hamstring/lower-back flexibility, so start by figuring out which one is holding you back and put your practice time there.
  • Build toward the full teaser in stages, such as rolling like a ball and roll-ups first, then a bent-knee teaser or teaser without straps, before adding straight legs and full range.
  • The lift and roll-down come from the spine moving one vertebra at a time, while the legs stay still and quiet.

Common mistakes

  • Closing and rounding the chest forward to power the lift up, instead of keeping the chest open and lifting through the upper back.

Coach's take: Sound prep work with a sensible regression - lower the leg if you cant straighten it. Useful but brief.
