Riding moguls

Snowboarding / Popular

Pick a line and absorb repeated bumps and troughs.

What coaches agree on

  • Stay low with soft, flexed ankles and knees, and let your legs absorb each bump as you ride over it.
  • Traverse across the slope, crossing several bumps between turns, to control your speed while you're learning, then gradually shorten that traverse and turn more often as you improve.

  • Look two or three bumps ahead and plan your line before you get there.

Common mistakes

  • Riding with stiff, straight legs — often the result of your weight drifting back — stops you absorbing bumps and is what sends riders into a skid or a crash.
