Boxer skip

Boxing / Popular

Skip with the boxer's step to build rhythm and footwork.

What coaches agree on

  • The boxer skip's core move is a weight shift: almost all your weight settles onto one leg while the other foot only lightly taps the ground, then you swap sides.
  • Drill the footwork without the rope first, and only bring the rope back in once the weight shift feels automatic.

  • Start the skip slow, and only pick up speed once your weight shift and rhythm stay consistent.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the whole foot land flat and heavy on the ground instead of staying up on the toes throughout the movement.
