Serve, receive and rotate correctly in doubles.

What coaches agree on

  • Serve diagonally, from your right-hand box to the receiver's right-hand box.
  • After every two serves, the serve passes to the player who just received, and their partner becomes the new receiver, so it works its way through all four players in a fixed order.

  • Partners must hit the ball alternately during the rally, so you never play two shots in a row for your team.
  • At 10-10 (deuce), each server gets only one serve instead of two, and the rotation keeps moving through the same fixed order every point.
